Tommy Africa's first opened in December 1988, to a full house, and has been a favorite spot for locals and visitors alike for the last 18 years. Located in the main Village Square, under the Pharmacy, beside the taxi loop. Tommy's features many different styles of music, ranging from house, electro, top 40, hip hop, rock, drum and bass, breakbeats, funk and the ever popular 80's retro. The Tommy Africa dancefloor is always full.
Tommy Africas is a true innovator and has been first in creation of many things in Whistler including the first to have Gogo dancers, and the first to import DJ's from all over North America, Europe and Austrailia. Tommy Africas has been voted the most years "Best Place to Dance in Whistler" (Pique Newsmagazine Contest) by the locals.
